Sound to good to be true ladies? The humble glass of water can help you look younger, feel better, workout more efficiently, aid weight loss and not to mention help prevent headaches.
So how much should we be drinking?…The latest recommendations are 1.6litres of fluid per day or roughly 8 glasses.
Drinking tea or coffee also delivers water, and even though these drinks may contain caffeine; when drank in moderation does not affect hydration. Alcohlic drinks however (though containing water) have a significant diuretic effect, meaning they cause you to pass more urine than normal and ultimately causing dehydration and obviously not the best choice.
So, how can you tell if you are getting enough water?
Feeling thirsty is your bodies way of telling you that you need to drink more, however the easiest way to spot if you are not getting enough is simply the colour of your urine. If it turns dark yellow you need to drink more, in a hydrated body the urine is the colour of pale straw.
Increase your water intake in hot weather, or when your body temperature is raised (typically during exercise) or when you become ill….
So raise a glass of the good stuff ladies, your body will thank you for it.
